About Financial Track: Credit Card Issues for the Modern Law Firm

In today’s world, credit cards have become the largest and most important medium for processing financial transactions around the globe. Historically, law firms have been slow to adopt their use. But the modern law firm is finding them essential to operate a successful business—from receiving client payments by credit cards to using a firm or corporate card for processing transactions. It becomes even more complicated when clients use credit cards to fund trust accounts and when the firm uses a corporate card for client expenses or advances. Billing Track: Functionality and Workflows of Email/Export Bills in Juris | CPE Credit

Speaker: Kathy Baker-Elder

10:45 – 11:45 am ET

10:45 - 11:45

About Billing Track: Functionality and Workflows of Email/Export Bills in Juris

In the past, most legal bills were printed on the firm’s nice letterhead and mailed to the client. Today, more and more clients are requiring law firms to submit bills either electronically or to provide them with a PDF version of their bill via email. In a service-related business such as the practice of law, meeting client demands is a critical part of a successful attorney-client relationship. Law firms can shorten the “work-to-cash” cycle of their business by accommodating these client requests, resulting in more timely payment for fees. The Email/Export Bills function in Juris software is an under-utilized tool that a firm can use to more efficiently meet these client demands. This course will demonstrate how to use the Juris Email/Export Bills function to create and email PDF versions of client bills and increase the firm’s agility in responding to their client needs.

Financial Track: Value & Benefits of a Fully Integrated Accounting & Billing Software | CPE Credit

Speaker: Stan Graham, CPA

10:45 – 11:45 am ET

10:45 - 11:45

About Financial Track: Value & Benefits of a Fully Integrated Accounting & Billing Software

“Easy to use” is one of the most desired traits in accounting and billing software. Everyone would like for their jobs to be easier and simpler so that we can get more done in less time. The challenge is that law firm accounting is difficult. The complex nature of maintaining multiple client subsidiary ledgers that tie out to the general ledger and financial statements makes law firm accounting a complicated affair. This course will demonstrate the value and advantages of using a single, fully-integrated accounting and billing software to: improve financial accuracy; shorten the monthly closing and reporting cycle; and transform the role of firm administrator from one of entry and data production to verification and provider of vital, actionable information.

Speaker: Kathy Baker-Elder & Stan Graham, CPA

1:30 – 2:30 pm ET

13:30 - 14:30

About Sophisticated Reporting for Juris Suite Users of all Levels

Critical business metrics and reports for effective decision-making at a law firm can range from Financial Statements, Compensation Calculations, Client Profitability, and Timekeeper Productivity to Working, Billing, and Collection Reports. Key business decisions, such as staffing levels, compensation, personnel decisions, billing rates, collection efforts, and tax planning all rely on a suite of comprehensive and accurate reports that will need to be generated on a regular basis by the firm’s administrative team. In addition, it’s not enough to just generate these reports—value must be added by understanding the underlying data and communicating the meaning behind the numbers in a concise and easy to understand way so that the correct decisions can be made quickly and efficiently. This course will help the user to identify key reports and relevant business metrics as well as how to use the Juris Suite Reporting module to efficiently organize these reports for prompt and accurate reporting. In addition, users will learn how to find the story behind the numbers, and how to impress their firm’s leadership with value and quality reporting.
